Nature feeds my spirit which fuels my creativity. I do not see the subject of a painting as separate from the surrounds, but as a glorious whole, as intermingling energies, colors, and lights, and I try to convey this in my art.
Having studied classical painting techniques, I now claim the right to express them in my own way. I invite the viewer to enter into the process by being allowed to see some of the early layers as well as to enjoy the many types of paint utilization, from glazes to impasto, blending to bravura, and abstraction intermingled with realism. I look for the paint to be luscious, as well as the image to intrigue the eye and stimulate the emotions.
I have been privileged to show with both the Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society, and have had my work in national publications, including American Art Collector, Yankee Magazine, and The Art Edge.
My current goal is to paint these glorious red rocks and vistas of Abiquiu, and the Flamenco dancers of Santa Fe.
